JOE ROGERS
November 13, 1931 - June 16, 2003

JOE ROGERS, co-founder and first President of Rogers Environmental & Safety Services, Inc., began his career in 1953 as an electronics technician with the Humble Oil Company (now ExxonMobil), and later served as a seismic field operator on a company crew. In 1969 he went to work for Dresser SIE Industries as an electrical and sales engineer, and spent time at the offices of Royal Dutch Shell in The Hague.

Joe was Vice-President of Marketing and Sales for ARDCO Industries for several years during the 1970's, before forming Associates Industries to manufacture geophysical equipment. He co-founded Bellaire Boats in 1985 with son, Joe Jr., and established the compressor and airgun department for servicing the shallow water seismic industry. In 1989 he opened Geophysical Sales & Rental with long-time friend, Al Adams. Over the years, Joe worked in the jungles of South America along the Amazon, on vessels in the south Atlantic, in Canada, on the north slope of Alaska and on the Alaskan peninsula.

In 1992, Joe co-founded Rogers Environmental & Safety Services, Inc. with wife, Kathi. The company began providing health, safety and environmental consulting services and training to oil companies and seismic contractors; and Joe once again found himself in the field, working for Exxon Exploration Company, Shell Western E & P, and Conoco on domestic land seismic surveys.

Joe's knowledge of equipment and field experience were in demand and proved invaluable both to the company and its clients. His ability to understand operational challenges allowed the company to help its clients achieve the successful completion of their projects in a safe and environmentally-conscious manner. However, it was Joe's reputation in the industry and his personal approach with each client, that gave the company the competitive edge that others could never duplicate.

It was a fitting final chapter to a long and successful career that he loved.

He will be remembered.
